Windows Azure Cloud Platform launched by Microsoft

IT software giant Microsoft made announcement on Tuesday about the official launching of its new Cloud hosting
plaform Windows Azure, at Microsoft Professional Developers Conference 2009, in Los Angeles.

Microsoft chief software architect Ray Ozzie gave explanation on the Windows Azure concepts and SQL Azure, which are the foundation elements of the company's cloud services strategy. Microsoft will move the Windows Azure Cloud platform from the latest community technical preview, for a production environment stage on 1 January, 2010. Microsoft explained the new cloud computing service in further detail last month.

The company also made announcement for a new set of Windows Azure features, Windows Server capabilities and marketplace offerings, which will make it simple for developers for building profit driven business from Microsoft-based solutions.

Customers need choice and flexibility in their ways to develop and deploy applications. The people are moving into an era of solutions, which are experienced by users across their Personal Computers, phones and Websites and that are delivered from data centers referred as private clouds and public clouds. Windows Azure and SQL Azure will give developers their needs to build great applications and profitable businesses.

There was a reference to ‘three screens and a cloud’ version and the software experiences seem to deliver across the TVs, phones and personal computer systems, which are connected by cloud-based services. The hybrid platforms of cloud applications depict that how the new Windows Azure platform provides applications for business companies and clients, enabled by Microsoft developmental tools and technologies. Microsoft Pinpoint was also unveiled as an online marketplace for Microsoft partners for marketing and selling the applications, which include new information service, which built on Windows Azure platform.

The new service lets developers and users access premium commercial and reference datasets and content on any platform, including those from the Associated Press, Citysearch, ESRI, First American Corp., NASA, National Geographic TOPO!, the United Nations, and Weather Central. Dallas is currently available as a limited community technology preview. The strategy of Microsoft is to lay out the road map for extension of Windows developer platform to the cloud applications.

The transform is for making the private, hosted and public clouds for enhancing them with additional services and transform them to make use of clouding computing capabilities.

The key investment areas include Windows server AppFabric Beta 1, which is set for an integrated application service, which makes it easy for the developers to deploy and manage applications over server and cloud area. AppFabric technology combines the hosting and caching technologies with the Azure platform AppFabric Service Bus and AppFabric Access Control, which is referred to as .NET services for delivering the set of application services for increasing Windows Server and Windows Azure. Windows Server AppFabric Beta 1 can be downloaded with the release available for 2010.

Muglia has announced the plan of company to offer Windows Server virtual machine support on Windows Azure, which will make the customers to support virtualized infrastructure across ‘Continuum of On-Premises and Cloud Computing’.

The company is giving offer Windows Identity Foundation, which helps developers to provide more secured and simplified user access to both cloud and on-premises applications with open identity-based claims. He also made announcement for Microsoft has released ASP.NET MVC2 beta, a free, fully supported framework, which lets the developers to build standards-based Web applications through asynchronous JavaScript and XML integration and enhanced extensibility.
